MATHEMATICS
The goal of the GATE math program is to teach the State Standards in mathematics and to provide a differentiated curriculum in order to meet the needs of GATE students. The program includes Pre-Algebra honors, Algebra I, Algebra GATE, Geometry, and Geometry Honors.
Content:
The curriculum is based on the California State Standards in mathematics for PreAlgebra, Algebra, and Geometry. Problem-solving skills are emphasized in all math classes.
Process:
Group discussions, projects, and a variety of other instructional strategies facilitate the development of problem solving skills. Technology is integrated into the curriculum to help students analyze statistics and data from current events. Students will apply their mathematical knowledge to real-life situations in order to grasp the relevance of what they are learning.
Product:
Students will be assessed using the district?s end-of-course exam, CSUF readiness test for the next math level, as well as their classroom performance. Students will demonstrate their knowledge in writing and with a web page showcasing their mastery of concepts learned in class.
