Congratulations Kraemer Middle School!! The school’s math club reached Gold Level Status in the MATHCOUNTS Club Program. At least 12 members each scored an 80% or better on the Monthly Challenge Test. This is an extremely commendable accomplishment. Kraemer received a banner to recognize its achievement. The team had placed 2nd at regionals. Events ranged from written tests to lab practicum's to building projects (towers, bridges, robots, cars, etc.). Students began to practice as early as October to be ready for events. Teachers Jeff Christiansen and Debbie Goodding were the team's advisors.
The Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events which students prepare for during the year. The competitions follow the format of popular board games, TV shows and athletic games. These challenging and motivational events are balanced between the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers and technology. They require knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills and science applications. In addition, during the day there are open house activities that consist of science and mathematics demonstrations, activities and career counseling sessions conducted by professors and scientists at the host institution.
