Kraemer Middle School’s PRIDE Program

Personal Responsibility for Individual Development and Education

What is PRIDE?

PRIDE is Kraemer Middle School’s unique tutorial period designed to support student growth and success. The program is built around the core principles of Personal Responsibility for Individual Development and Education, offering a flexible and enriching environment for students to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Program Overview:

  • Frequency: PRIDE meets four times a week for 30 minutes.
  • Purpose: The program focuses on character development, academic intervention, and enrichment.
  • Structure:
    • One day is dedicated to school-wide lessons on character development, study skills, and social-emotional learning.
    • On the remaining three days, PRIDE serves as a flexible period where:
      • Teachers can pull students for intervention and extra help.
      • Students can choose from enrichment activities, study hall, or tutoring.

5-Star Student System:

The 5-Star Student system plays a key role in managing the PRIDE program by allowing teachers to pre-assign students to specific interventions and letting students sign up for activities when not pre-assigned.

  • Teacher Pre-Assignment: Teachers use the 5-Star system to pre-assign students needing intervention based on academic performance, ensuring they receive timely support.
  • Student Sign-Up: Students who are not pre-assigned can use the 5-Star system to sign up for available enrichment activities or study hall.

Key Benefits:

  • Individualized Support: Teachers identify students needing academic intervention and use PRIDE time to target those needs, helping to close learning gaps.
  • Character Development: Dedicated lessons on topics such as perseverance, responsibility, and teamwork help build a positive school culture and prepare students for life beyond middle school.
  • Enrichment Opportunities: Students who are excelling academically can explore new interests through various enrichment activities offered during PRIDE, ensuring all students are engaged and growing.
  • Flexible Scheduling: PRIDE allows for real-time academic intervention without pulling students from core classes, making it an essential tool in supporting all students.

Program Goals:

  • Academic Success: Provide targeted intervention and enrichment to meet the diverse needs of all students.
  • Personal Growth: Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and develop key life skills through character education.
  • School-Wide Support: Strengthen Kraemer’s school culture by fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
